9 Months To Go

May we offer our congratulations on your engagement. You can now dream of your ideal wedding. The following may be of some use to you in planning your special day.

Date
The first thing to do is choose a date. This will depend on work, family commitments and holidays and will always be something of a compromise.
Once you have decided on a date, may we suggest a diary or a wall chart, which will help you keep to a schedule. Ideally you will need at least nine months to complete all your arrangements. However, with our assistance it can be done in less time.

Budget
Establish a budget. Now is the time to decide how much you would like to spend. Your starting target must be realistic as additional items can add up. Our Wedding Calculator featured in this site will help you calculate your Wedding Reception cost.

Time
If you are having a traditional church wedding your church and clergyman are your first priority. So check dates and times with them as this sets the scene for the rest of your day. Traditionally 2.00pm or 2.30pm are popular for those choosing a formal reception with a meal and dancing in the evening.

Place
Having fixed the date and time, the reception is the immediate priority. By now you should have decided on how many guests you would like to invite; also evening guests. There are many important things to consider on the day; such as delectable food beautifully presented, friendly staff and a warm ambience; these things can really make your day special. For Spring and Summer Weddings we suggest you book your Wedding Cars, Coaches, Photographer/Videographer nine months in advance. Distance from the church should be measured in time rather than miles. Malin Court is a pleasant twenty minute drive from Ayr, forty five minutes from Kilmarnock and only ten minutes from Girvan or Maybole through beautiful countryside. This gives you time to relax and reflect on the ceremony. A coach can be arranged for your guests.

Transport
Choose your wedding cars not only for style but practicality. If you have a full dress of long train choose a car with a high roof or wide doors. Ask your guests to let you know at the time of acceptance if they require transport by coach so that you can decide on coach capacity and route.

Photographer
Choose your photographer and videographer with care. Professionals will be happy to discuss your requirements and should be able to show you some samples of recent weddings. So don't just look at their brochure. Try to find someone in whom you feel confident and who will not take all day !

Entertainment
If you want a particular band start looking now, preferably for someone you've heard personally. We have a list of recommended bands who've played at Malin Court already.
